Get to know us
We are a group of Girl Scouts from Orange County working on our Silver Project, the second-highest award that you can earn as a Girl Scout. We’ve heard of the endangerment of the North Atlantic Right Whales, so we decided to take action and raise awareness. There are less than 400 North Atlantic Right Whales left, and another calf has already died this year. We’re raising awareness for boaters and others so that the North Atlantic Right Whale will live on!
Our mission
Here at Flukes Up we are focused on helping the North Atlantic Right Whale survive and thrive in their natural habitats by spreading awareness to people like you. The North Atlantic Right Whale inhabits the oceans from Brevard county Florida through Canada. There have been 20 boating incidents killing or seriously injuring North Atlantic Right Whales. In the area between Merritt Island and Amelia Island you can see the North Atlantic Right Whale with the naked eye from the coast line. Learning about these animals and telling people you know can make all the difference.
More About The Girl Scout Silver Award.
Cadettes can team up with a small group of fellow Girl Scouts or work on their own. To earn the Silver Award, you will research an issue you care about, make a plan to address it, and then take action to improve your community.
Our team
Together we completed our Girl Scout bronze award as juniors amidst the pandemic and now we're working together to complete the Girl Scout Silver project.
